The End

I haven't posted on The Robyn Diaries since the end of November. I feel with all the new things life has brought me recently that I have in a way out grown this little blog. Over the past three years The Robyn Diaries has brought me some amazing opportunities, new friends and most importantly my first step towards the career I've always wanted.

I am incredibly thankful for all of this however another new start is what I feel is right, so you can now find me blogging over at Fashion Taxidermy.

Peace & Love,

Adventures: Poland - Krakow Day 1

Tartan Scarf - Primark
Fluffy Cropped Jumper - Topshop
Daisy Print Dress - Topshop

This is the outfit I wore for our first day in Krakow - as you can see it was an absolutely beautiful day. Our hostel was just off the main square so we started our morning with a look around the market before catching the bus to Auschwitz. I feel a bit weird including an outfit within this post, which you'll understand if you read below.

Our main reason for going to Krakow was to visit Auschwitz. I have always had an interest in World War history and have previously visited another concentration camp. I was rather nervous about going to Auschwitz as I didn't know what to expect, and I couldn't have been more sickened - but not in the way you'd expect. The whole concentration camp is a tourist hot spot (which I did sort of expect) but not in the way I witnessed it. I was so emotional walking round the larger of the two concentration camps, especially when it came to seeing the mass graves and gas chambers. The only picture I took there was the window below with the Poppy as I thought it had a very profound message especially considering the time of year we visited. The smaller concentration camp at Auschwitz had been turned into a museum which had some absolutely heart wrenching stories inside, and some completely sickening ones too. However I witnessed an American couple taking a picture under the 'Work Will Make You Free' sign and heard a large tour group talking loudly inside one of the gas chambers. I initially wasn't sure if I even wanted to go into the chambers and as soon as I did it made me feel sick to be in a room where tens of thousands of people had died a horrendous death. I just cannot get my head around why people had so little respect for what had happened on those grounds.

Later that day we went for dinner at a Communist restaurant that had been family run since 1880. It had some very delicious pierogi (Polish dumplings) and the ceiling was painted like clouds which looked so cute. We had an early night ready for the next days adventures.

Mesh Top - eBay
Floral Playsuit - Missguided
Necklaces - Various
Cut Out Boots - Missguided

Well guys it has been quite a while since I posted a proper outfit. I tried to take as many outfit snaps as possible in Poland but it is not quite the same. This is what I wore last night to go and see Noah and the Whale and Vampire Weekend in Manchester. I was actually lucky enough to win tickets through Phones4U's #projectupgrade on Twitter, so thanks very much for that. Both bands were ace however there is something not quite right about live music on a Sunday night (unless your at a festival), we were also seated which had an amazing view but isn't the same as dancing along with everybody else. Still I am not complaining!

I'm not sure which I love more, my playsuit or these ah-maze-ing shoes, both from Missguided. The playsuit has a floaty top section which is great for covering up the effect of sitting on money maker all day in an office. These boots are the exact opposite of the girly playsuit with the cut out detail and silver panel on the front. I don't think I own a single pair of lady like shoes - the tougher looking the shoe the better in my opinion. And all the better for balancing out what could have been a very twee outfit.

Adventures Poland: Warsaw - Day 3

Velvet Scrunchie - Topshop
Floral Dress - Vintage
Chain Belt - Primark
Chelsea Boots - Topshop

I've been so excited to share this outfit post because look how amazing this cafe is! We strolled past it the previous day and decided we had to go and get tea and cake there before leaving Warsaw. It was like walking into a cartoon or illustration and I simply couldn't stop looking around and discovering new things. I love the attention to detail and took so many pictures while we were there. The cats were obviously my favourite part, however the fruit tea and cheesecake I ordered were super yummy too. This was our last day in Warsaw however we caught a plane later that day to Krakow to carry on our adventure.

The dress I am wearing I bought from a vintage store while in Warsaw, I saw it and immediately fell in love with - it ticks all my dress boxes. This necklace is my 'travel necklace', every time I go to a new city I buy a new charm for it. So far I have charms from LA, Amsterdam, Budapest, Manchester, Warsaw and Krakow. It has so many memories attached to it and while none of the charms cost more than £5 it is one of my most treasured possessions.

Home Ware Inspiration

 All Images: Tumblr

As you might know I recently moved from Hampshire to Manchester for my new job. Currently I am staying with the ever so lovely Sarah, however in a few weeks I will be moving to my own flat (just across the road as it happens). One of my favourite things about moving house is that you get a chance to decorate and choose a theme for your new room. For a long time I have been saving images to a folder as inspiration and spent lots of time today looking for things online. I want a really bohemian, hippy den vibe to my new room with lots of dream catchers, fairy lights and cushions. Have a little look below at what I have found...

Wooden Stag Head  - IWOOT // Dreamcatchers - eBay // Record Clock/Bowl - DIY // Candy Skull Candle Holder - Paperchase // Elephant Cushion - eBay // Elephant Throw - eBay // Maroon Mosquito Net - eBay // Black Candles - Primark // Porcelain Candle Plate - Dunelm // Faux Fur Cushion - Dunelm // Multi Picture Frame - Matalan // Route 66 Sign - The Range // Cowcat Hanger - Urban Outfitters

One of the things I really wanted was some sort of stag related ornament to go above my bed, however of course they are really expensive. I found this wooden wall decoration for £10 and plan to wrap fairy lights around its horns too. I already have quite a few dream catchers which I want to also put above my bed. While I really love the idea of having a mosquito net over my bed I think having one over a space on the floor with lots of cushion under it and this sugar skull candle holder dangling in the middle will make a lovely little reading corner, leaving the stag head to be the focal point above my bed. The elephant throw is just off eBay but I would put it over my bed with white sheets underneath.

The rest of the items speak for themselves, however the record bowl and clock are so expensive to buy online yet so cheap and easy to make yourself. I made myself a record bowl when I was much younger which I still have. A quick trip to a charity shop and online browse for clock hands online would results in a DIY record clock, something I can't wait to make!

What do you think of my home ware choices? I can't wait to decorate my new home...
